Having Ourselves a Merry Little Christmas

We haven't updated the blog in a while, so let's get you caught up on what's been happening.

Sunday, December 20th. we had our annual cookie decorating party. We had a great turnout (over 40 people) and had a great time visiting and decorating/eating cookies. In fact, we had such a good time, we forgot to take pictures. We made over 100 cookies in preparation, and only had a handful leftover. (A very large handful).

On December 23rd, we went to a Sushi class at Central Market and learned how to make/roll sushi. We made (and ate) California rolls, Philadelphia rolls, and a few more. The Chef complimented Newt's technique, which we all know is the last thing he needs.

On Christmas Eve, Grandfather Bergin, Colette, Aunts Liz and Christine, and Abuela came over for dinner. We cooked pasta with shrimp and then we had our own Christmas service, where we read some scripture and put baby Jesus in the manger. Luckily, we recorded the SMU game, so Eric could enjoy his favorite Christmas gift this year - the ponies winning a bowl game.

On Christmas Day, we headed to Newt and Rhonda's house for a brunch. Rhonda always serves the best food and there is always plenty to go around. Exciting highlights included that Elliot already has a stocking and gifts, Lauren and Jerome gave Newt a Breathalyzer, and Joshua at 2 1/2 knows that the little plastic man pictured below is creepy looking (simone, pumba, and cowboy boots are much more fun).

On Saturday, we visited Alan, Julie, Brooke, and Christopher. Julie's parents and grandmother were in town, and as always, it was great to see them. Brooke kept us all entertained (see below--best present of the day). We're so excited to have her and Christopher as role models for Elliot.

On Sunday, we went to Grandfather Bergin and Colette's house for dinner and a tour of Christmas lights.

In summary, we had a wonderful Christmas holiday and are excitedly awaiting what this new year has to bring! Hope that everyone's holiday season was filled with joy.
